Who I am
I’m Razia Jukes, a photographer working as a sole trader under the name Razia Jukes Photography, based in Greenwich, London. Under UK data protection law I am the data controller for the personal information described here.
You can contact me about anything in this policy at razianjukes@gmail.com.
What I collect, and why
When you send an enquiry through this website
The contact form asks for your first name, last name, email address and your message. You can also tell me the kind of photography you’re asking about, a date, a location and an approximate budget, but these are optional.
I use this to reply to you and, if you go ahead, to plan and deliver your booking. The legal basis is that you have asked me to take steps before entering into a contract, and my legitimate interest in answering enquiries about my services.
Enquiries are delivered by email to me and to a family member who helps me run the business.
The form runs automated spam checks, such as how quickly it was filled in and whether the message contains links. Messages judged to be spam are discarded and not delivered. No profile of you is built, and nothing is decided about you beyond whether a message is spam.
When you book a shoot or an event
I hold the details needed to do the work and be paid for it: your name and contact details, the date, location and nature of the shoot, any notes you give me about what you need, and invoice and payment records. Payment is by bank transfer. Clients outside the UK can pay by card through Stripe, in which case Stripe processes your card details and I do not see or store them.
The legal basis is our contract, and my legal obligation to keep tax records.
Photographs
Photographs of identifiable people are personal information. I take and keep them in order to deliver the work you or your organisation commissioned. The legal basis is our contract or, where you are a guest or a member of staff at something I was commissioned to photograph, my legitimate interest in fulfilling that commission.
I may show a selection of photographs from a shoot on my website and social media unless you ask me not to. For corporate and private events I only do so with the client’s agreement.
If you appear in a photograph on my website or social media and would like it removed, email me and I will remove it.
When you browse this website
- Hosting. The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, it processes your IP address and basic technical details of each request in order to deliver pages and keep the service secure.
- Analytics. I use Vercel Web Analytics to see which pages are visited. It does not use cookies and does not identify or track individual visitors across sites.
- Video. The TEDx talk is hosted by YouTube. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play. When you do, YouTube (Google) receives your IP address and may set cookies under its own privacy policy.
- Cookies. This website sets no cookies of its own for visitors.
- Links to other sites. Links to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and other sites take you to services with their own privacy policies.
Who I share information with
I don’t sell personal information, and I don’t share it for anyone else’s marketing. I use a small number of service providers who process it on my behalf:
- Vercel, for website hosting and analytics.
- Resend, which delivers contact-form messages to my inbox.
- Google, for email.
- An online gallery service, through which I deliver finished photographs to clients.
- Stripe, for card payments from clients outside the UK.
Some of these providers are based in, or process data in, the United States. Where personal information is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK–US data bridge or standard contractual clauses.
I may also disclose information where the law requires it.
How long I keep it
- Enquiries that don’t lead to a booking: 12 months, then deleted.
- Booking, invoice and payment records: six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as tax law requires.
- Finished photographs: three years after delivery.
- Unedited photographs: 12 months after the shoot.
Finished photographs are delivered through an online gallery. Downloading and keeping your own copies is your responsibility.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask me to:
- give you a copy of the information I hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your information, where I don’t have to keep it by law;
- restrict or stop a use of your information that you object to;
- move your information to another provider, where that applies.
To use any of these rights, email me at razianjukes@gmail.com. There is no charge, and I’ll reply within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If I change how I handle personal information I will update this page and the date at the top. My booking terms are on the terms page.
