Photography built around a working district
Canary Wharf is a different proposition to the City. It's newer, more uniform and more corporate, and that consistency is an advantage when you're photographing a team: the architecture gives you clean lines, generous glass and predictable light, so a set of headshots holds together even when they're taken across several hours.
Most of my work here is on location rather than in a studio. I bring lighting to your office and photograph people a few at a time, which means nobody loses half a day and the images still sit properly in your own environment.
For individual branding shoots, the estate has more variety than it first appears — the waterside, the covered arcades and the planted roof garden all photograph very differently from the towers themselves.
Where we might shoot in Canary Wharf
A mix of hard architecture, water and greenery, all within a short walk of each other.
Cabot Square
The central square, with its fountain and symmetrical frontages. A clean, formal backdrop that reads unmistakably as the district.
The Thames Path
Open water, sky and a longer view. Useful when a set of images is otherwise dominated by glass and needs somewhere to breathe.
Crossrail Place Roof Garden
A covered garden above the station, planted under a timber lattice. Warm, sheltered, and a genuine change of texture — and it works in poor weather.
Jubilee Park
Mature trees and curved lawns in the middle of the estate. Softer and more approachable than the surrounding architecture.
The dockside walkways
Water on one side, towers on the other. Good for movement shots and for portraits that need depth behind them.
Your own office
Meeting rooms, breakout spaces and reception areas, lit properly. The most efficient option for team headshots, and the most specific to your brand.
Who a Canary Wharf shoot suits
This is the natural choice for people working in banking, asset management, insurance, legal and professional services, along with the technology and consultancy firms based across the estate.
It's particularly well suited to team headshots. If you need consistent portraits of a department or a whole floor, coming to you in Canary Wharf is almost always faster and cheaper than sending everyone to a studio.
If you're camera-shy — and a lot of the people I photograph in offices are — that's genuinely the part of this I specialise in. You don't need to know how to pose. I guide posture, expression and eye line throughout, and sessions are kept short and relaxed.

Can you come to our Canary Wharf office?+
Yes — most of my work here is on location. I bring professional lighting and can work in a meeting room, breakout area or reception space, photographing people in small groups so the working day isn't disrupted.
How many people can you photograph in a session?+
The standard team package covers ten people, with two retouched images each plus a group shot. Larger teams are straightforward to arrange — we'd plan the running order around your schedule.
Do you need permission to photograph on the estate?+
Much of the Canary Wharf estate is privately managed, so commercial photography in the public areas can require permission. I check and arrange this in advance. Shooting inside your own offices is simply a matter of your building's own rules.
What should the team wear?+
Whatever they'd normally wear to meet a client. Solid colours photograph best and busy patterns are worth avoiding, but consistency matters more than formality — the aim is that the set looks like one company.
What if it rains?+
Not a problem here. Crossrail Place Roof Garden and the covered arcades let us keep shooting outdoors in poor weather, and indoor sessions are unaffected. Canary Wharf is one of the easier parts of London to shoot in year-round.
