What happens during a headshot session?
You don’t need to arrive knowing how to pose or what expression to make. That’s my job.
At the beginning of your session we’ll talk about what you need your headshot for and how you want to come across. I then guide you through posing, expression and body language, making small adjustments throughout the shoot to help you look natural and confident.
The session is relaxed and conversational, giving us time to create different expressions and looks so you have a genuine choice of photographs at the end.
What if I hate having my photograph taken?
Then you’re in the majority of the people I photograph, and this is the part of the job I specialise in. You do not need to know how to pose or what expression to make.
I make small adjustments to your posture, positioning, eye line and expression as we work, using the same technique I explain in my TEDx talk, The Secret to Looking Good in Photos. Most people are surprised by how quickly they stop thinking about the camera.

Choose clothing that makes you feel confident and reflects how you normally present yourself professionally. Simple, well-fitting pieces tend to photograph beautifully. Before your session, I can help you decide what to wear, and you're welcome to bring a few options so we can create different looks during your shoot.
How long does a professional headshot session take?+
The length of your session depends on what you need and how much variety you want from your photographs. I allow enough time for you to settle in, relax in front of the camera, and try different expressions and looks without feeling rushed.
Where do headshot sessions take place?+
Headshot sessions can take place in my south east London studio or on location at your office or workplace. We'll choose the setting that best suits how you want to present yourself and where you plan to use your photographs.
How should I prepare for my headshot session?+
Before your session, we'll discuss what you need your headshots for, the impression you want to create, and any clothing options you'd like to bring. On the day, simply arrive as yourself — I'll guide you through posing, expression, and body language throughout the shoot.
